"Where attention goes, neural firing flows, and neural connection grows."
- Dr. Daniel J. Siegel
Hi, I’m Jessica and this is my son, Kail. We have been Almost World Schooling his entire life. I’ll be showing you videos and photos illustrating skills being learned then and now, all without ever stepping into a school.
I’ve been a career nanny for nearly three decades. We recently moved to the picturesque paradise of Marin County. It’s a small hop north from San Francisco. I took a new rotational nanny job where I am working 7 days on (12+ hours) and 7 days off. I plan to document our Almost World Schooling journey here.
I knew I would be homeschooling my child(ren) more than a decade before Kail was even born. The how of it is becoming more present to me everyday.
Whether you’re just dipping your toes into the homeschool world or have been doing it for a long time, I hope you’ll enjoy following us. The universe of homeschooling is very diverse. The cool thing is you can do it your way. No need to recreate a stuffy school environment in your own home.
In my blog and vlogs, I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned from nannying many children (and mommy-ing one) of all ages and stages including those with learning and/or mobility challenges.
I’ll be showcasing our Almost WorldSchooling journey as well as best practices (IMO) for babies, toddlers, and young children. I’ll highlight curriculums, products, toys, local learning opportunities, books and more. All completely unbiased, based on my personal and professional experience.
I chose the name “Almost World Schooling” for my blog because “World Schooling” is our ultimate goal and “Almost Unschooling/ Relaxed Homeshooling” is what our journey most closely resembles at the moment.
In the first blog, I’ll tell you why we choose to Almost World School our little guy. It’s all learning.
Cheers!
Jessi and Kail
It’s all learning!
